Five rules of product photography that boost e-commerce sales

Photography is the shop window of e-commerce

When shopping online, customers cannot touch the product; they largely decide by looking at the images. That is why product photography is one of the most critical parts of the sales process.

1. Consistent lighting and background

When every product in a collection is shot with the same lighting and background, the store looks organized and professional.

2. The right angles

Front, back, side and detail shots answer the questions on the customer’s mind. A missing angle means an unanswered question.

3. Show the product in use

Model or lifestyle shots show how the product looks in real life and make the buying decision easier.

4. Color accuracy

The color on the screen should match the product that comes out of the box. Otherwise dissatisfaction and returns are inevitable.

5. Consistency with brand identity

E-commerce visuals are part of the brand too. In our shoots for Pierre Cardin and LOL, we aimed to show the product clearly while preserving the brand’s digital visual consistency.
