A logo is not a brand: Why does a cohesive identity matter?

A logo is the tip of the iceberg
Many brands start their journey with a logo and assume the job is done. But a logo is only the brand’s signature. Customers recognize a brand in an Instagram post, on product packaging, on a website and even in the reply to a message they send.
What is a cohesive identity?
A cohesive identity means the brand tells the same story at every touchpoint. That takes a few building blocks:
- Color and typography system: The visual foundation that makes the brand recognizable everywhere.
- Brand voice: How the brand speaks. Is it friendly, corporate or bold?
- Visual language: Photos, videos and graphics that share the same atmosphere.
- Brand guidelines: All of these rules gathered in one document that everyone on the team can use.
Why does it matter?
A consistent brand builds trust. A brand that evokes the same feeling wherever it appears stays in mind; a scattered brand has to introduce itself all over again every time.
That is why at Markiz we start every project by understanding the brand. Because we believe what makes a brand strong is the harmony of all its parts.
